NYC Bound
Steve found his first ever dime while charging the car in Irvine. After Karina got off work, we drove to San Diego and spent the night with the Sianis. We rolled out of bed early on Tuesday to catch our 7:10 a.m. flight to JFK, arriving at 3:40 p.m. ET.
We took the JFK AirTrain to Jamaica Station and then the LIRR to Penn Station. This is our first proper view of NYC, after exiting Penn Station with the Empire State Building just visible.
After walking to Fairfield by Marriott, 338 W 36th St and dropping off our bags, we walked to NY Pizza Supreme at 413 8th Ave for dinner.
After dinner, with time to kill before our 8:45 p.m. entrance slot at the Empire State Building, we dropped in for drinks at Mustang Harry’s, 352 7th Ave.
Such a great find!
The atmosphere was vibrant and festive, making for a truly enjoyable time.
Walking toward the Empire State Building, the top rising into the clouds.
A very Instagram moment.
Sadly, the summit was shrouded in clouds with bitterly cold winds whipping around the viewing platform, not a very Sleepless in Seattle moment.
This is the view we could have had, if the summit hadn’t been socked in clouds.
The good thing was the building was empty, so we were able to take photos In front of the iconic relief in the lobby.
Christmas—such a magical time to visit!
Of course, after leaving the building, we looked back and the summit was mostly clear! Good night New York!
