Sep 1984-Dec 1986—As so many woman do, Ruth placed her career on hold when she & Jim moved to CA in 1970. In Sep 1984 “it became necessary for Ruth to seek FT employment outside the home.” She worked as a librarian at Hewes Middle School until Dec 1986.
Jan 19, 1987—Ruth on her 45th birthday, her first in Camarillo.
Mar 1987-Apr 1991—Once in Camarillo, Ruth worked for Unocal for 4 years.
May 1991-1994—Ruth next worked for Ventura Co. Dept. of Alcohol & Drug Programs for 3 years.
While working these jobs, she began taking undergraduate and 7 graduate classes at CLU. She passed the National Teachers’ Exam in 1989 & obtained her clear CA Teaching Credential in 1994.
With great effort, Ruth obtained her clear CA Teaching Credential in 1994 and then landed a job at St John’s Lutheran School in Oxnard during the 1994-95 school year, teaching religion, math, & language arts to 7th & 8th graders. Ruth dresses the part for a lesson on XX.

1998—Ruth & Jim moved into a condo at 1410 Brett Pl, #131, San Pedro so both could work at Christ Lutheran in Rancho Palos Verdes. Ruth taught 8th grade, which included planning trips to Washington DC. Debbie rented the Camarillo house in the meantime.
Jun 1999—At the end of their first school year at Christ Lutheran School, Ruth & Jim celebrating the graduating class of 1999.
Mar 2000—Ruth planned a celebration for Jim’s 60th birthday at Papadakis Taverna in San Pedro. Owner John Papadakis had a child who attended Christ Lutheran School.
Jun 2000?—Ruth & Jim celebrate another graduation at Christ Lutheran School.
Jun 2005—Ruth retired from teaching. A highlight of her 19 years in public and Christian school was leading trips to Washington DC and a 2002 teachers’ workshop in Jamestown, Yorktown & Williamsburg.
