Jim and Ruth at a 2005 American League Championship Series game at Anaheim Stadium.. The White Sox bested the Angels by a 4-1 margin to advance to the World Series. The White Sox went on to sweep the Houston Astros. On Wednesday night, October 27, 2005, The White Sox won their first World Series in 88 years with a 1-0 victory over the Astros. Jermaine Dye drove in the final game’s only run and was named series MVP.
